Arisa-ortiz-200.pngDr. A. Shadi Kourosh is a board certified dermatologist and Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School. She is committed to patient advocacy and solving public health problems.

Dr. Kourosh is working to increase access to dermatologic care for underserved communities in the Boston area and advocates for patients at the national level to protect medical research and affordable care for patients with skin disease.

New medications and expanded indications give us more options than ever to care for our patients.   Atopic dermatitis and prurigo nodularis More topical options for atopic dermatitis (AD) became available this year with the approval of roflumilast 0.15% cream (Zoryve) in patients aged 6 years and up and tapinarof 1% cream (Vtama) in patients aged 2 years and up. 1,2 Approval of the pan-JAK inhibitor delgocitinib cream for adults with chronic hand eczema is expected based on phase 3 trials. 3 Ruxolitinib cream (Opzelura) is currently approved for ages 12 and up, but has shown safety and efficacy in patients as young as 2 years. 4 IL-13 inhibitor lebrikizumab (Ebglyss) was approved in September for moderate to severe AD in patients 12 years and up who weigh at least 40 kg. 5 Another IL-13 inhibitor, cendakimab, is in develo...

  TIPP: Women’s Shelter Initiative to Empowering Women Through Dermatology By Stephanie Choi, MS4, and Hanna Englander, MS2; UMass Chan Medical School   Community engagement offers healthcare providers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact and gain valuable insights into caring for patients from diverse backgrounds and with varied needs. For UMass Chan medical students Stephanie and Hanna, one particularly rewarding opportunity has been the Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS)’s Transformative and Interconnecting Program Project (TIPP), the women’s shelter initiative.  Through the TIPP program, medical students and dermatologists can organize dermatology educational workshops for participants at women’s shelters.
