Read and Recommend During Social Distancing

By Jennifer Sorrell, MD While these two books are at total opposite ends of the spectrum from each other, they are both fantastic reads. What do they share in common? Well, both were complete “stabs in the dark” when I picked them and both hooked me within just a few pages.  The Tattooist of Auschwitz  by Heather Morris It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book that has left such an impression on me. The Tattooist of Auschwitz is the true story of a young man’s surprising survival during one of the world’s most horrifying times in history. This book was both at times hard to put down and hard to read, but it was captivating.  Lale Sokolov was Slovakian and was 16 years old when he entered Auschwitz. WDS Editorial Highlight By Jennifer Sorrell, MD The World Congress of Dermatology is fast approaching, taking place June 10-15, 2019 in Milan, Italy. I would suggest a walking tour, as these always provide such amazing information in the moment and make the sites so memorable. Usually, these tours also allow you to “skip the lines”, so that you aren’t wasting valuable sightseeing time waiting. One tidbit I have found after doing lots of walking tours in different European cities is to arrive at the meeting site at least 15...

One of my favorite ways to unplug after a challenging day or week is with a good book. I am partial to fiction and a compelling storyline, especially when I have trouble putting the book down. I am happy to share with you my thoughts on two novels written by an author who had me eagerly devour each novel she had written! Liane Moriarty was born and still lives in Sydney, Australia. She has published 6 books. One of them, Big Little Lies , was recently made into a short television series by HBO, with great success. [Wikipedia, lianemoriarty.com.au] I hope you find these reads take you to a wonderful haven from a busy world. The Husband’s Secret was the first book of Moriarty’s that I read.
