I’ve never had to negotiate anything before and really had no idea what I was doing and just saying the word “negotiation” gave me palpitations. I did what any new graduate does and asked my mentors for advice. Fortunately for me, one of them recommended “Never Split the Difference: Negotiating as if your life depended on it” a book by Chris Voss. I bought the book to help with my job negotiation but it has completely changed how I see the majority of conversations in my life. Chris Voss is a former-FBI hostage negotiator who wrote this incredibly articulate, interesting, and helpful book on negotiation – with real life FBI hostage examples! Well, both were complete “stabs in the dark” when I picked them and both hooked me within just a few pages.  The Tattooist of Auschwitz  by Heather Morris It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book that has left such an impression on me. The Tattooist of Auschwitz is the true story of a young man’s surprising survival during one of the world’s most horrifying times in history. This book was both at times hard to put down and hard to read, but it was captivating.  Lale Sokolov was Slovakian and was 16 years old when he entered Auschwitz. He was imprisoned there for more than 2.5 years and was a master of languages, which likely saved his life on several occasions. Liane Moriarty A look at Liane Moriarty's Book by Dr. Jennifer Sorrell Work-life balance is an important concept for happy satisfied dermatologists. One of my favorite ways to unplug after a challenging day or week is with a good book. I am partial to fiction and a compelling storyline, especially when I have trouble putting the book down. I am happy to share with you my thoughts on two novels written by an author who had me eagerly devour each novel she had written! Liane Moriarty was born and still lives in Sydney, Australia. She has published 6 books. One of them, Big Little Lies , was recently made into a short television series by HBO, with great success.
